Robert A. "Gus" Harper III

Mr. Harper's experience encompasses a broad spectrum of legal practices, including criminal and civil fraud defense, family, personal injury, corporate, appellate law, and commercial litigation.


Mr. Harper serves as general counsel for several assisted living facilities (ALFs), providing counsel on issues ranging from employment and transactional matters, to Medicare/Medicaid compliance, as well as issues before the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

Mr. Harper was recently recognized by the national Best Lawyers in America publication as "Tallahassee's 2014 Lawyer of the Year" for non-white collar criminal defense. While in private practice, Mr. Harper's law firm was recognized in the U.S. News and World Report's rankings of "Best Law Firms." Mr. Harper has also been recognized among the "Best Lawyers in America," "Florida's Super Lawyers," and as a "Legal Elite " by Florida Trend magazine.

Education

Mr. Harper received his Bachelor's degree from Florida State University, and his Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. While attending law school, Mr. Harper also studied at the University of Montpellier in Montpellier, France.

Professional Activities

Mr. Harper is a member of the Florida Bar, and is licensed to practice in the Northern District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Harper is a Barrister with the William H. Stafford Inns of Court, a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Florida Justice Association.

Personal Interests

Mr. Harper's personal interests include tennis, golf, basketball, and running. Mr. Harper is a native of Tallahassee, where he resides with his wife and three sons.
